The Austin Community Foundation creates the Operation Turkey Fund
AUSTIN, Texas – December 5, 2006 – The Austin Community Foundation has setup the Operation Turkey Fund to manage financial contributions to Operation Turkey. Operation Turkey is an Austin-based organization that facilitates direct assistance for those in need, nationwide. The Austin Community Foundation will manage the Operation Turkey Fund to ensure that all financial contributions meet the IRS’s 501c3 non-profit guidelines. All funds donated will go towards assisting Austin’s homeless and less fortunate throughout the year.
“We are very proud to work with the Austin Community Foundation,” said Richard Bagdonas, Managing Director of Operation Turkey. “Their guidance, support and donation management will allow us to serve warm meals several times per year..”
This year 132 volunteers in Austin worked with Operation Turkey to provide food and clothing to 550 people. This was the largest year for Operation Turkey which served over 750 meals nationwide. Operation Turkey engages its members with guidance, support and resources.

We are excited to work with their team and lend our support.” said Richard Slaughter, Executive Director of the Austin Community Foundation. “We are looking forward to a fruitful 2007 for the Operation Turkey program.”
