 Operation Turkey was designed in 2000 to promote community outreach during the Thanksgiving holiday. Every citizen of the United States can celebrate Thanksgiving. There are no racial, ethnic or gender restrictions or requirements. Operation Turkey organizes community distributions of food, clothes and blankets to the homeless and less-fortunate.

Thank you for your interest in donating your time to help feed our neighbors who are having a hard time making ends meet this Thanksgiving.
Helping Operation Turkey starts with donations. Please assemble donations of clothing, toiletries and non-perishable food items. Simply drop them off at the Operation Turkey Drop locations listed in the "Donation Locations" section of the website.

Austin Yam Jam 2008 Lineup Announced
 The Austin Yam Jam is having its second annual concert at Threadgills in Austin, Texas. This year’s Austin Yam Jam “Back For Seconds…” (www.austinyamjam.com) raises money for Operation Turkey (www.operationturkey.com).
100% of the money raised is used to buy food. Last year we fed over 3,500 homeless and less fortunate in Austin thanks to the majority of the money coming from the Yam Jam. ...full story |

How it Works
|
Preparing meals is easy
 Preparing meals is easy. Simply place the food out on counters or on tables and have your team place items from each bowl/plate in their container.
It is easy to work as a team and it is a lot of fun. For added personalization, use a marker to write a greeting on top of the container. This connects everyone who participated to the delivery - even if they cannot go with you.

It Started With One
 Operation Turkey was started on Thanksgiving in 2000. It wasn't called Operation Turkey back then. It was a guy plating up extra food after eating a Thanksgiving meal and handing it out to a homeless person.
